Important Update: Changes to Our Pricing Structure
We wanted to take a moment to share some necessary updates to the pricing structure at The Rose Theatre. These changes have not been made lightly, and we understand they may cause concern for some of our hirers. However, they are essential to ensure the theatre remains a vibrant and sustainable space for the community.
Over the past several years, our rates have remained largely unchanged, despite rising costs for heating, cleaning, staffing, and maintenance. In fact, some of our rates no longer cover even the basic cost of one member of staff on site. Without these adjustments, we simply cannot continue to operate.
Here’s what’s changing:

Landor/Chamber Rooms: £30 per day + £20 per hour.
Theatre (Non-Show): £30 per day + £30 per hour.
Dressing Rooms: £15 per day + £8 per hour.
Discounted rates are available for charities and non-profits to keep the venue accessible.

Flat Day Rate: £150 for show bookings, in addition to a simplified ticket split system.
Sell-Out Bonus: To reward successful shows, you’ll keep 100% of revenue from the final 15% of ticket sales if your show sells out.

You’ll notice that hourly rates have gone down in some areas, as we’ve recognised that the start and end of a hire are the most expensive for us due to setup, heating, and cleaning costs. For hirers booking 3 hours or more, we wanted to avoid a massive hourly rate increase, which is why we’ve introduced the day rate to cover those upfront costs fairly.

The Rose Theatre costs £85,000–£100,000 per year to subsidise, which is funded by taxpayers. These updates will help us reduce this burden, cover operating costs more fairly, and reinvest revenue into improvements like new equipment, better services, and marketing to bring in more footfall.
For full transparency, we’ve attached:

Current regular hirers will keep their existing rates until April 1st, giving you time to adjust to the new structure. New hirers will transition to the updated rates immediately.
We know this may feel like a big change for some hirers, especially those impacted the most. Please know that these updates have been carefully calculated to keep the theatre open and thriving for the whole community.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of The Rose Theatre. Together, we can secure its future and make it a space everyone can enjoy for years to come.
